[ The feed starts with a very enthusiastic GOOOOO LEOOOON from a certain excited ninja. The first shot is of Lightning, who is glaring Yuffie down from the next seat over. Giggling and cheering, Yuffie turns the gear towards the match in progress. Noctowl and Honchkrow have presumably already been taken down, as currently Skarmory is facing down Falkner's Pidgeot. Both birds are in flight over the arena, but Pidgeot is slightly wobbly from poison; it's clear that Flood did a number on it already.

Yuffie is making ~~obnoxious commentary~~ a full play-by-play as the match continues; both pokemon have used Agility repeatedly, and the result is difficult to follow. One second Skarmory is diving for Pidgeot, the next Pidgeot is slamming its wing into Skarmory's head. Unfortunately for Pidgeot, its efforts are in vain: Skarmory has the type advantage. Skarmory uses Pidgeot's proximity to catch it in her talons, and unleashes a hideous Metal Sound at point-blank range. Pidgeot screams and flails away, causing Skarmory to lose her balance; their talons still twined, they go plummeting down in a cloud of blades and feathers.

Skarmory's metal shell means the impact doesn't bother her much; Pidgeot, on the other hand, poisoned and dizzy, is out. Yuffie gives a shrill whistle, effectively drowning out Lightning's own cheer. Skarmory shrieks triumphantly before she and Pidgeot go back to their respective pokeballs. The feed clicks out. ]

[ Skarmory makes a pleased noise, before stepping aside to let Flood get more attention. It's uncharacteristic of her not to be a bit of an attention hog, but people tend to find Flood gross or scary, and she does respect all the work he did during the fight. Flood has a moment of hesitation before reaching out, tugging gently on Kay's bright golden key-shaped hair ornament. IT'S SO SHINY. ]

[ Kay grins, and actually removes it from her hair to let him see it better. ] Do you like it? It's an important symbol!

[ That gets Flood's, Skarmory's and Leon's attention. Skarmory leans forward, but Flood puts a tentacle in her face to stop her from biting--and potentially breaking--the long, thin key. Leon quells her with scritches, before addressing Kay. ]

What is it a symbol of?

The Yatagarasu's Key. It's... kind of a tribute to my dad.

What's a 'Yatagarasu'?

[ So full of the big words tonight, Kay. ]

The Yatagarasu's a famous phantom thief back home! Never leaves any evidence, always knows where the target is, and can disarm any system-- and who's got one target and one target only!

[ Leon has to arch an eyebrow at that. Skarmory and Flood are looking at Kay like WHOA THAT'S BADASS. ]

And what is it?

The truth.

[ this is Kay's life, Leon. ]

The truth, huh? [ He can't help but frown a little. What value is there in something stolen? Oh, Leon. ] And how does this thief relate to your father?

[ Kay hesitates here, for just a fraction of a second, and tugs lightly at her muffler. Well, not like Leon knowing would change anything. ]

You could say they had a connection.

[ Leon finally puts two and two together. Oh. ]

I see. [ He won't comment, because it's not his place, but Leon has little love for thieves. He might warm up to the idea if Kay can play up the vigilante aspect. ]

You must miss him. [ He motions to the key; you don't usually pay tribute to the living. ]

[ oh, she will. Her dad was awesome. ]

Yeah. [ if there's any sadness (and there is), Kay's hiding it admirably. ] He wanted to bring people to justice that the law couldn't touch... I didn't think he'd end up being one of the victims. But it's been seven years, and I finally got to set things right.

Sometimes bad things happen to good people. The only thing to do is to keep going and do honor to their memory.

[ Delayed gratification? Leon can get that. ]

[ She was ten and derpy, the only thing that stopped her from catching on sooner was that she didn't find out his secret until recently. ]

Oh, I will! I'm going to shut down every corrupt business out there!

[ He nods at her, his expression softening. Her enthusiasm is infectious. ]

[ He claps a friendly hand on her shoulder. ]
