6th roar [ video + action for violet ]

[ The feed starts with a very enthusiastic GOOOOO LEOOOON from a certain excited ninja. The first shot is of Lightning, who is glaring Yuffie down from the next seat over. Giggling and cheering, Yuffie turns the gear towards the match in progress. Noctowl and Honchkrow have presumably already been taken down, as currently Skarmory is facing down Falkner's Pidgeot. Both birds are in flight over the arena, but Pidgeot is slightly wobbly from poison; it's clear that Flood did a number on it already.

Yuffie is making ~~obnoxious commentary~~ a full play-by-play as the match continues; both pokemon have used Agility repeatedly, and the result is difficult to follow. One second Skarmory is diving for Pidgeot, the next Pidgeot is slamming its wing into Skarmory's head. Unfortunately for Pidgeot, its efforts are in vain: Skarmory has the type advantage. Skarmory uses Pidgeot's proximity to catch it in her talons, and unleashes a hideous Metal Sound at point-blank range. Pidgeot screams and flails away, causing Skarmory to lose her balance; their talons still twined, they go plummeting down in a cloud of blades and feathers.

Skarmory's metal shell means the impact doesn't bother her much; Pidgeot, on the other hand, poisoned and dizzy, is out. Yuffie gives a shrill whistle, effectively drowning out Lightning's own cheer. Skarmory shrieks triumphantly before she and Pidgeot go back to their respective pokeballs. The feed clicks out. ]

[DEALINGWITHIT. Gives her hands something to do, anyway.]

Something messed with our heads. Made us think we slept for three days when we didn't. [Only way it makes any sense.]

[ Have one very happy Vulpix, Lightning. ]

Could it be a... [ what's the word-- ] glitch, like at the end of October?

[Lightning and the scritches. She'll never escape the curse of them, will she?]

Maybe. We don't know enough about this place to be sure of anything.

[ Never. ]

That's true. [ Doesn't mean it doesn't make him uncomfortable.

His name comes up and he rises, leaving Glitter with Lightning for the few minutes it takes to fetch his three battlers. He reattaches Onix and Flood to his belts, keeping Skarmory's pokeball and taking out the disc Falkner gave him. ]

[Drat.]

[She just waits, not moving from her seat as Leon goes to reclaim his team, both for Glitter's sake and the fact that she really just....doesn't want to move. So she looks at him as he takes the disc, and Skarmory's pokeball.]

You think she can learn it?

No sense in not trying; it's not like I've got a whole lot of other pokemon that can learn Flying-type moves.

[ He releases Skarmory, who hops around for a second, looking for the next contender. But no, just a pokemon center. Oh hey! It's scritches lady, and-- ]

Skarmory, come here, please.

[ Effectively snapped out of it, Skarmory obediently moves over to Leon, who gifts her with a fond smile and gentle throat scratches. She looks at him with newfound pride, their bond made stronger by the sweet taste of victory. He shows her the disc, watching as her eyes follow it curiously. ]

I'm going to hit you on the head with this; if it works, you'll have learned something new. Sound alright with you?

[ Skarmory makes a vaguely skeptical noise, but bobs her head; her Defense stat is so high she probably won't feel much of anything, to be honest. She lowers her neck until her head is easily within reach. Leon looks over at Lightning, feeling incredibly stupid. ]

I can't believe I'm doing this.

[Lightning just watches; her hands are full of Vulpix, so no scritches just yet, Skarmory. ...not that you seem to mind with Leon giving you the throat scratches. Leon, you're just a big softie, aren't you? When he turns to her, Lightning shrugs one shoulder. There's a lot that's impossible to believe in this place]

What do you have to lose, right?

[ She's right, of course, and he lifts the disc, bringing it down firmly enough on Skarmory's head that it breaks. There's a moment of ringing as the pieces splinter, and Skarmory just stands there, immobile for a few moments. ]

Are you alright? Did it work?

[ The bird finally blinks a few times before looking up at him. Her expression of shock melts away into bright, happy surprise; she nods happily, confirming that the Technical Machine has, in fact, done its work. ]

[Of course Falkner would have been right. This is his world, after all.]

She seems surprised as you do, Leon.

[ Skarmory squawks hesistantly, straightening out to her real height. Leon turns to Lightning with a raised brow, his earlier surprise gone. ]

Well, you'd probably be too, if you got clocked over the head with a CD.

[Lightning only smiles faintly at Skarmory, shaking her head a little. She's been clocked over the head with a lot of things. A CD would be new, though.]

Probably. There's a lot of better things to use if you're trying to knock someone out.

Definitely. [ He recalls Skarmory to her pokeball. ] If only learning everything were as easy as getting a lump.

It wouldn't be worth much if learning everything was that easy. [Learning is half the journey, or something.]

I guess not. [ Or something. Mostly it would save him headaches if all he had to do to teach something was bonk ~~Sora~~ ~~Yuffie~~ people over the head repeatedly. Leon sits back down next to Lightning, feeling the kind of lethargy that only comes after a sharp adrenaline boost. No plans on moving for the foreseeable future, no. He glances over at Glitter, still curled up and making soft, satisfied noises in Light's lap. ]

She likes you.

[If hitting people taught them things, Snow would be the most learned man on Pulse. As it is...well, she's not moving either. She glances from Leon down to Glitter when he speaks, and she's still gently petting the little fox creature]

It's just becuase I'm petting her.

[ And Sora would be the wisest fourteen-year-old in all the worlds. ]

I don't know. Skarmory seems pretty taken with you, too. Maybe you're just good with animals.

[ It makes him kind of want to ask what with fauna was like where she came from, but the question doesn't quite make it past his lips. ~~lol bodhum fishbird, the hell was that thing even~~ ]

I doubt that. It's only yours that do this.

[A quick shake of her head. Hope's Ursaring is...something else. To say nothing of her own Gastly. As for the Cocoon Fauna...well, that fishbird was the least of the critters.]

I'm lucky to have friendly pokemon, then.

[ Light's own Odin is pretty friendly; and Gastly is friendly in his/her own...special way... Leon's pokemon are just all derps. The only exception was Green, but he's gone back to Zack, now. ]

You sure that's luck?

[Odin is spoiled. Gastly loves to prank people, and Lightning still has to work that out of her. In a way, Leon's lucky to have gotten more derps in his life. After Sora and Yuffie, of course he'd attract more.]

[ He arches a brow at her. ]

Why wouldn't it be?

[ Leon is magnetically charged to attract derps. Also, Odin is going to be the most untractable, vice-ridden firehorse in the world when he evolves. ]

[A sideways glance is all he gets in return.]

Being too friendly can be a bad thing. Never know what kind fo trouble it'll bring.

[Poor, poor Leon. He just can't shake his derp attraction quality. And that is most likely going to be true. Lightning will be prepared to get thrown a couple times.]

I don't think Onix and Flood are too friendly. Skarmory...Skarmory just needs to learn what 'physical space' means. Besides, she's not exactly in any danger even if she gets too close.

[ Have you seen her ~~defense stat~~ metal skin? She can take whatever life throws at her. God help Lightning if Odin ever gets a rock or something stuck in his hoof. ]

She wouldn't be. And most people would think twice about messing with her.

[Have you seen her ~~sharp as swords beak~~ attack stat? She can kill whatever life throws at her. God forbid that happens, becuase wat do then? Chocobos didn't get stuff stuck in their..talons.]

Exactly. And if nothing else, they're easy to train.

[ If it does happen, Lightning will probably get kicked into oblivion. Arguably, Rapidash's hooves are harder than diamonds, so maybe it'll crush any rocks before they get stuck in the sole? ]

And all that training is paying off now.

[At least it would be quick. Though, with that sound argument, all Odin's going to get stuck in his hooves is rock dust.]
