24th roar [ video ]

[ The feed clicks on and immediately, what captures the attention is the rising and falling sound of foreign music blasting through the Gym. Clair's Gym, to be precise: Leon is taking on his last Gym leader.

Well, 'taking on' is perhaps strong. More like, Clair's Dragonite is in the final throes of agony, wrapped up in Flood's tentacles, heavily poisoned, getting blasted with Ice Beam. From the viewpoint, just over Leon's shoulder, it becomes obvious his Raichu is the culprit here, filming the proceedings with occasional peeping encouragements to her teammate.

Dragonite doesn't last long, and eventually goes slack. Flood's tentacles are suddenly holding nothing more than a vanishing red light. The music dissipates, replaced by the usual victory fanfare. Raichu, as well as Lightning, Sen and Strike in the stands, explode into cheers—or in Lightning's case, soft applause. Leon himself isn't one for overly emotional displays, so Flood gets a few proud pats and a promise of well-earned rest for his trouble.

Raichu leaps down from Leon's shoulder as he collects his HM and prize money. As he turns to make his exit, Lightning strides up, the camera catching on her pleased expression. ]

They did well. You did well.

Thanks.

[ The view is mostly obscured by Raichu's meager height, but Lightning steps in very close and Leon's arms wind around her shoulders and she tilts her chin up--

Goodness.

A moment passes, before the two abruptly break apart, apparently having noticed their audience. As Raichu scrambles back, the camera tilts high enough to catch the two of them looking incredibly uncomfortable. ]

Turn that off.

[ And off it goes. ]

[[ooc: pink is Lightning; tags may come from both of them as soon as Silver gets online. As for me, a busy class schedule means I may have to leave shortly, so don't worry if I disappear.]]

I'd need to hone my reflexes again. It's become so automatic, I rarely think about the actions necessary.

[However, the Magikarps are plentiful. Good knives are hard to find.]

It would give you something to do for a while. At least until something happens again.

[And even harder to replace, too.]

Even during and after. We are due for a snowstorn, if last year is any indication, and I intend to wait it out inside, this time.

[It makes one wonder why no one sells them in bulk.]

I think we all will. Getting stuck in something like that won't do any of us any good.

[Probably for safety. Anyone with that many knives can't want them for good purposes...unless they're caterers.]

Goodness knows travelling from Ecruteak to Goldenrod was unpleasant, even with a Growlithe warming me.

[Or world-saving ninjas.]

It wouldn't be a good idea with a pack of Arcanines, Cecil. Not if it's as bad or worse than last year.

[Of which there are sadly none here.]

...Unless they all know Sunny Day. It does change the weather over a certain distance. If it could replace the storm...

It might work. The question is, for how long would it hold? A day isn't much time to get to safety.

[Well. Sadly none here yet.]

...Not nearly long enough, unless you intend to travel between Ecruteak and Mahogany.

[One can hope that is temporary.]

Then you should get to a city before the storms blow in. Probably better not to risk it at all.

[With a little luck, perhaps.]

Saffron or Goldenrod, probably. Those two are the most practical if you wish to travel.

And they're the most equipped to handle a lot of people all of a sudden if the storms ground the trains. Less chance of having to camp somewhere because the Inns are full.

I should still buy a waterproof tent, to be certain. A cottage would be more practical, but they've no portable ones here.

[icon face. Portable...cottages? Since when have those been portable---doesn't matter. Really doesn't matter.]

Should probably get something you can build in a hurry. We didn't have much warning for the blizzard last year and I don't think that's going to change.

You'd think the Ice-types would be able to tell earlier, somehow.
