19th roar [ video + action for Olivine ]

[ The feed opens on Olivine beach. Judging from the bobbing, it's being held by a pokémon, one that doesn't have arms to stabilize it. A metal grating sound—Skarmory, then.

The camera flicks up suddenly, sliding across a long stretch of sand to...Leon. Leon surrounded on all sides by his team. Lucky behind him, her head in his back. Strike and Scizor in front, pulling him by the arms. In the water, Flood waits, making soft mournful noises, tentacles reaching for his trainer. Leon, for his part, has both feet planted firmly in the sand and is not moving.

Not.

Moving.

An inch.

They push, they pull, he doesn't budge. His expression is one of rock-solid concentration. He tries to shake them off, but they're stronger than he is, and he goes back to putting his energy into doing his statue imitation.

It looks for all the world like they're trying to feed him to his own Tentacruel.

Skarmory chirrs in amusement, then quickly drops the 'gear to go join the fun. ]

[Careful, Leon. There's a Lucario bounding down the beach and barking while he tries to find something to grab onto to push or pull. Gotta help Strike, you know? That's just what Sen's gonna do, like it or not! ...As soon as he stops with the bouncing around, anyway.

But if he's here, then where's his trainer? Well, she's taking her time to come down the beach, smirking when she gets close enough to see what's really going on.]

Need a hand with them?

[ He glances over at her, face still scrunched up in concentration. ]

I'm fine.

[ Because you sure look fine, Leon. ]

[Today, Minnie is out with Daisy the Magmar. When she comes on this scene, both she and Daisy tilt their heads in confusion.]

Leon?

[Nope, sorry. Not believing a word of that, no matter how much he probably wants her to.]

You sure about that? You don't seem fine from where I'm standing.

[Even for him, he's standing far too rigidly for this to be his normal stubborn side. What's going on?.]

[ He is getting dragged, despite his best efforts, inch by inch, towards the water. ]

That's enough, all of you--I said it's fine.

[ But Flood makes that sad, mournful noise again, and the pokemon redouble their efforts. ]

Please don't worry, Minnie. I've got it under control.

[ Except not. ]

[Having found no room to squeeze in and help, Sen backs down with a whine towards his trainer, who's frowning and moving closer. She'll just be ignoring that "fine" comment this time; something's definitely off if they're not listening to Leon.]

Then why aren't they listening to you?

[Lalala. Walking up to the water as easy as you please. Drops his small knapsack and puts his shoes right beside it. And here comes his uberhuge Blastoise too, stomping right into the water and creating a huge mess of things, but Hope doesn't mind. In fact, he's running right into the water and making a jump for one of Alexander's cannons.

Because they want me to go play with Flood.

[ They think it's harmless--not only do they implicitly trust Flood, their teammate, they definitely think a little splish-splash will do Boss some good! He's just being stubborn, as usual. Leon quickly finds himself with two feet in the water, looking alarmed. His pokemon seem to sense it, and stop pushing quite as hard, looking up at him in confusion. ]

Well, they've got it.

[ Being sloooowwwllly dragged to the water...Leon is looking more and more uncomfortable. ]

Maybe they want you to go swimming with them?

[From where she's standing, all Lightning can see is the group of Pokémon stop suddenly and wonder why they're doing that. So she closes the distance between, gets her feet in the water and turns to see what's wrong, and that's when she sees the look on his face. She's never seen that look before. Not on Leon. It's obviously got something to do with getting pushed into the surf, so she turns her attention to his team for a moment.]

Guys, back up. Give him some space.

[She knows that Sen can at least drag Strike off if need be, but right now her main focus is the other human on the beach and she turns her attention back to him. She's never seen him act like this, so what could be causing---oh. Fal'Cie, if she's right about this--]

Leon, do you know how to swim?

[It's not said with an unkind or mocking tone; she's actually just kind of curious. And maybe a little concerned; even with Flood right there, things might have gotten dicey if he couldn't swim back towards shore on his own.]

[He can't help but watch in silent amusement for awhile as they try and drag Leon into the water. Don't worry, Leon, your bro has your back... in about five minutes.]

You never told them, did you?

[ Watching Hope. Glaring. ~~Vaguely jealous~~. Looking more and more uncomfortable as he's dragged towards the water. ]

[ The pokemon pause at Cloud's voice, then turn to Boss. Told them what? Leon just...shakes his head. ]

I have actually heard that meditation is best practiced somewhere quiet with minimal distractions.

They do. That's the problem.

But what's wrong with that? Swimming is fun!

[ His pokemon lay off, as Lightning suggest, giving their boss confused looks. Leon turns to Lightning, frowning. ]

If I could, you think I'd still be on the beach?

[ Skarmory makes an upset noise, and Strike none-too-fondly smacks his shoulder. Why didn't he say anything? Stupid Boss. ]
